Not sure if you are still checking or working with the post for this picture, but I’m writing to ask if you wd. be agreeable to have me use a cropped version – mostly just the hilt – as the basis for a fantasy novel I am in the process of publishing with a writer’s group called Bookview Cafe.
I wd do no more than crop the picture and add the title, author’s name etc, and I wd. v. much like to use the image, which fits the novel better than anything else I have managed to find or to make. I wd. naturally acknowledge the image’s source, with thanx.
The title of the novel is *The Heart of the Fire,* and its protagonist is a notable swordsman in a quasi-Viking society, much of whose life turns around his weapon. If ever invented, it wd. prob. look very much like this Anglo-Saxon weapon, but as I said, I have not previously found an image that fits the mood, tone and themes of the novel so well.
If U wd like to see the current sketch of the cover, and/or wd. be agreeable to the image’s use, please contact me.
